UponA receiptbook metadata record is first created after a contract has been signed.

PBN

PBNs (punctum books numbers) are internal identifiers for book projects. This system was introduced in 2019 and retroactively applied to the entire catalog. The first four digits of a PBN are assigned once a contract has been signed.

PBNs have the following structure:

xxxx.y.zz

• xxxx contains a four-digit code starting at 0000 for each book project
• y indicates the output format
  • 0: print-on-demand paperback
  • 1: PDF
  • 2: EPUB
• zz indicates the book/chapter
  • 00: the entire book
  • 01: front matter
  • 02 and higher: parts of the signedbook

punctum forwardedbooks to two members of the Editorial Advisory Board for peer review, whoDOIs are asked to provide additional and constructive commentsbased on thePBNs. mss.Since withinJune 1–210, months.2021, ExternalDOIs peerare review may be solicited dependent on the wishes/needs of the author.

Submissionsregistered through imprints have generally already been peer reviewed by the imprint's editorial board. The punctum co-directors exercise their editorial discretion in skipping external peer review for manuscripts such as memoirs or poetry collections.

In the Trello Submissions board, the index card is moved to Editorial Board Review column.

Once peer review reports have been received, these are forwarded to the author togetherCrossref with the submissionfollowing guidelinesform: for10.53288/[PBN]. monographsLegacy andDOIs editedregistered collections respectively.
